2 Screens or Not 2 Screens?

Here’s Why 2 Screens Might Be Right for Your self storage

by: Josh Parker

It may be time to upgrade your viewing situation at your self storage desk. One screen, especially on the small side, just might not be enough. Often it is necessary to have multiple windows open simultaneously. Whether it be your customer management software, access management software, cameras, email, etc., they are all competing for precious screen space. Toggling back and forth between windows is an option, but it might not be the best option.

By having two screens side by side, you have much more flexibility and ease of use. In a fast-paced setting where a manager isn’t glued to the desk, viewing multiple systems and information quickly is essential.

Recently one of our manager’s workstations was upgraded to a dual monitor setup, and it has been very well received. Two large monitors meant sacrificing some desk space, but after rearranging a few things it all fit, and the tradeoff for space was well worth it!

Standard monitors can be purchased relatively inexpensively, and most computers are capable of a dual monitor setup using new cables and sometimes, an adapter. The monitors can even be mounted on a dual monitor stand to free up more desk space if desired.

While you are at it, if your current setup does not include a webcam, now is a perfect time to order one. Many webcams have built-in mics and can be attached to the top of your screen. Zoom and Google Meets are increasingly important communication tools used for many things from training to virtual conferences and webinars. Webcams are an inexpensive, but important tool for every office.
