The 5-Minute Walk That Could Make You More Money

Here’s a challenge for this week: Take five minutes and walk your facility like you’ve never seen it before. Start at the road and look at everything through a customer’s eyes. Is your signage easy to see? Is the landscaping clean? Does the office look inviting? Are there weeds, faded signs, dirty doors, burned-out lights, or clutter you’ve simply gotten used to seeing?

Here’s the important part: Don’t just take the walk—fix three things. Customers notice the little details, and those details send a message about how you’ll take care of their belongings. Five minutes. Three fixes.

Here are my three fixes from my walk this past week.

1. Picked up a handful of small branches off the grass and tossed them into the woods.

2. Greased the chain and rollers on the gate because they were squeaking loudly.

3. Fixed a couple of ceiling tiles that were sitting askew.

These are not big items, and they took only a few minutes! But the impact of ALL the small details combined is what makes the difference. Don't let the small things slide. Pick up the stick. knock down the cobweb. If you see it, so do your customers.
