5 Ways to to keep ahead of the competition.

Updated: Jul 11, 2022

by: Josh Parker

It's a numbers game, and we're always trying to get an advantage. The good news is that the Storage Authority systems already put you above the competition. The bad news is that it takes a little extra to stay there. A little extra time and attention to the details. A little extra creativity with marketing. A little extra care for our customers.

5 Ways To Be Extra:

1. Extra smiles

You may have heard the quote "I'm still wearing the smile you gave me." A smile is a free gift we can give to our customers. They say smiles are contagious, and with extra smiles, excellent service, and a fantastic facility, our customers should always leave with a smile.

2. Extra clean

An extra few minutes every single day makes an incredible difference. Take the time to clear that spider web way up in the corner of the building today- not tomorrow. See a cigarette butt in the driveway? Get rid of it before a customer sees it. It's the details that set us apart!

3. Extra candy

Have a customer that you know has kids at home? Encourage them to take a few pieces of candy home for the kids. They will appreciate that you remember something about them! And the kids will appreciate the sugar!

4. Extra Marketing

Self-storage is a local business. What local events are going on this month that you can participate in? It could be a scarecrow contest on the town green, a farmers market where you can hand out packets of seeds with your logo on them, or maybe the Girl Scouts need a place to set up a table that has great drive-by traffic. Thinking outside the box might take a little extra effort and creativity, but the impact is huge and I guarantee people will remember when they need storage.

5. Extra Organized

Efficiency is a direct result of being organized. Take the time to hone your organizational skills, set up routines in your day, and be willing to refine those routines as needed to make them easier and more efficient. Folders, calendars, filing racks, sticky notes, etc. are all useful tools for being organized.
