Would you work tirelessly (for a while) if you knew you could not fail in self-storage?  Most of you would because you know how profitable self-storage is.   However, you will likely never get started because of your fear of failure. I did not have enough cash to build my first self-storage, so I had to go through my “friend rolodex”.  One friend after another, including my best friend, said no.  You could hear the fear of failure in their voice and see it in their eyes.

Finally, I found a friend who was willing to check out the opportunity with me.   We figured out that we could not fail if we were smart and kept driving forward and did not give up. Together, we built a self-storage facility in our hometown that has paid us millions. We still own the self-storage, and it pays us hundreds of thousands every year.  Was it easy?  At the time, it seemed hard. But looking back, it feels like it was really easy compared to our 9 – 5 / W2 jobs we retired early from.
